- I believe that I get the main idea of pretty much all of Gee’s concepts. I think some are definitely harder than other, but overall I could explain and utilize most of them. I think for the most part most of my paragraphs are working fairly well so far, but I think a little better understanding of some of Haas’ ideas could help me. She throws out a lot of complicated ideas, but I kind of stick to the ones we went over in class and I understand.
- I think that most of the quotes go really well with the flow and the idea driving my papers. I think they are more helpful than just repetitive which can be kind of hard to achieve. I think it is very important to use good quotes, even, going as far as a good versus a bad quote can make or break a paragraph.
- I think my biggest problem in several of my weaker paragraph is using more “I say” then “they say”. I sometimes tend to describe more than actually make points, and the paragraphs that I overdo that in are made weaker.
- I think that my analysis says that science discourse is only achieved through a combination of several different ideas. And it can be observed and studied through various means such as the IMRAD format, practices, and other specific means to authors.
